What is “Leek Weekend Diet”?

Low on calories and a natural diuretic, leeks can greatly help people who are trying to lose weight the fast way—as fast as just weekend.

Aptly called “leek weekend diet,” this type of diet, when done together with exercise, can jumpstart your weight loss program and help you cut your calorie intake.

It is actually easier to lose the first few pounds because they are typically just water weight.  Although leek in itself will not take off all your unwanted excess weight, it can greatly help you begin your weight loss journey.  Here’s how.

You can start by fasting—fasting on the short term, that is.  Doing this would detoxify your body from contaminants and lose water weight.  Avoid starchy fruits and vegetables.  Focus instead on eating leeks cooked as a soup, or eaten raw as a salad.

Try to avoid using animal fats when making lee soup.  Just simmer this delicious herb in a pot of water until they are cooked.  This can be your main meal for about two to three days.

Leeks are nutritious as it can supply you with potassium, folic acid, Vitamin C, beta-carotene and other nutrients, but you can also have fruits and other vegetables with your meal.

After three days, you would begin to feel lighter, your stomach flatter.  Incorporate lean meats like fish to your leek diet on day four and whole grain carbohydrates as well.  After a week, you will surely lose at least five pounds.

Maintaining this type of diet in the long run is impossible, not to mention dangerous.  But if you need to lose weight fast for a special occasion, taking on the leek weekend diet would surely help.  Keep in mind though, that nothing is better than exercise, eating in small portions and including more vegetables in your diet when trying to lose weight.
